Editors & canvas tools
Every file the studio makes can be opened and fixed. Which tools appear depends on the step that made the file — a rail of controls that mostly do not apply is how a rail stops being read.
Opening a file
Files a step produces to look at — a page analysis, a styled plate, a sound plan — open with an eye: the file, its insights, its history. Files a step produces that you fix by hand open with a pen and a tool rail. The split is per step, not per stage.
The image editor
Pages, panels and plates. Beside the canvas: the file's insights (what the planning pass wrote about it, editable — this is where a dropped panel is un-dropped) and its edit history, one row per change, which you can walk back. The rail holds the tools for the step that made the file:
| Step | Rail | For |
|---|---|---|
| Split into Panels | Select · Paint · Crop | A panel the splitter cut wrong |
| Find Speech Bubbles | Select · Paint · Crop | A balloon the detector missed |
| Clean Up Panels | Select · Gen Fill · Clone | A hole it filled badly |
| Apply Anime Style | Select · Try a Style | One panel, one look, before the folder |
| Fit to Frame | Select · Gen Fill · Clone | The last chance to catch a mistake before Video |
- Select
- The cursor back to normal.
- Paint
- One brush; what the strokes mean is decided by the step you painted them in. On a panel from Find Speech Bubbles a stroke knocks out a balloon; on a plate it marks a region for Gen Fill.
- Crop
- Cut a border or a neighbour out of a panel.
- Gen Fill
- Paint a region, describe the repair, and it redraws just that region. See Generative Fill.
- Clone
- Copy a region of the image and paint it over another. No GPU, no queue, no prompt — for when the right answer is “more of the wall six inches to the left”.
- Try a Style
- Restyle this one panel in place, from the same picker Apply Anime Style uses.
Nothing in Art has Paint or Crop, on purpose: cropping a plate undoes framing a step just decided, and painting a repair by hand into anime linework is not something a mouse does well. What Art needs is a model, pointed at a region.
The script editor
The film's .srt as cues: rewrite a line, retime it, reorder cues, switch the whole script between narration and dialogue without touching timings, and mark it as the video script.
The clip editor
Transport, previous and next shot, and a trim for the head and tail. A clip is fixed the way a plate is: spot what is wrong by watching, then ask for it again with that part described better — Fix this shot. The new take replaces the clip in place, undoable.
The voice editor
One file per line, so one line is one thing to fix. Open a reading and re-say it; the replacement lands at the same cue in the same voice.
Undo
Edit history is per file. Every hand edit and every in-place regeneration is a row you can step back to; the previous version is kept, not overwritten.
