Art styles
More than 70 looks for Apply Anime Style and Try a Style, from studio anime to watercolour to black-and-white manga. You can add your own.
Two groups
The picker has two tabs, and they do different jobs:
- Animation
- Paints your panel again as anime or cartoon art. This is what most films use. 41 looks.
- Manga
- Adds colour and tone to black-and-white pages without deciding what colour anything is. Nothing can disagree between panels, because no panel is given its own colours. 34 looks.
A style is how it is drawn
A style is the lines, the shading, the colour fills and the texture. It is the same on every panel of your film.
The light and the mood of a single panel are not part of the style. They come from the Plan Art notes for that panel. This is why a happy page still looks happy in a dark action style, and a night fight still looks like night.
Some of what is in there
- Studio anime — clean cel anime, bright school, dark action, neon city, mecha.
- Painted and storybook — watercolour, oil paint, painted 2D, storybook 3D.
- Ink and manga — comic ink, black-and-white manga, brush ink, gothic ink, screentone, clear line.
- Colour tones for manga pages — duotone, sepia, moonlit blue, amber, ashen grey.
- Clay and stop-motion — clay, stop-motion puppets, limited old-cartoon animation.
Most looks have a picture in the picker. The rest show an icon until a picture is added.
How to choose one
- Open one cleaned panel and use Try a Style on two or three looks. One panel, in place, cheap.
- Pick the one you like.
- Run Apply Anime Style on the whole Clean Up folder with it.
Make your own style
You can add a style. Describe only how it is drawn — the lines, the shading, the fills, the texture. Do not describe a subject and do not describe a mood. Your style then shows up in the picker with the others and works everywhere they do.
