Bring the comic in and break each page down into single panels, with the speech bubbles removed. Three steps, in a fixed order.

Understand Pages AI

Reads each whole page and writes one analysis per page: a transcription of every bubble, caption and sound effect; a description of the scene; and a reading of the gutters — the action the reader infers between panels, which the comic never drew and the film will have to. Run it first, on the imported pages. It costs a few credits per page and no GPU, and afterwards the assistant can discuss your comic from these notes instead of re-reading the images.

Split into Panels GPU

A trained ensemble of panel detectors — several models whose detections are combined, so a border one misses another catches — crops each page into its panels in reading order. Everything after this works one panel at a time.

Run it on the original page, before removing bubbles. The detector looks for panel borders, and a page with erased bubbles carries rectangles it can mistake for them.

Open a panel to fix a cut by hand: Crop to trim a border or a neighbour the splitter took too much of. See Editors & canvas tools.

Find Speech Bubbles GPU

A second ensemble finds every balloon on a panel and knocks it out to transparency, leaving a see-through hole where the lettering was. Clean Up Panels, in the Art stage, paints artwork back into those holes — so you never mark a bubble by hand unless the detector missed one, in which case Paint over it.

Bubbles come out per panel, not per page, and that order is load-bearing: the holes are black as well as transparent, and a page of black rectangles looks like gutters to the panel detector.

Skipping Source

If you already have clean panels — illustrations, concept art, panels cut elsewhere — import them and go straight to Art. Every Art step can take the Imported folder as its input.
