Video

Turn your pictures into moving shots. Plan the shots first, then make the clips. This is the most expensive stage, so the plan matters.

Plan Video a few credits

Run it on the whole Fit to Frame folder at once, in reading order. This is the only step that sees all your pictures together, and that is what lets it:

  • Choose which panels are worth a shot, and drop the rest with a reason you can read.
  • Join panels that show one moment into a single shot. A jump and the landing become one clip, not two clips of the same pose.
  • Fix the light, the colours and the look of each character once, for the whole film. This is what stops a jacket changing colour from shot to shot.
  • Make each shot as long as the line spoken over it, if you wrote a script, and mark the shots where someone is talking.

Everything it decides lands on the Storyboard tab. Read it. Change any shot there before you make the clips.

Generate Video by the minute

Makes one clip for each shot in the storyboard. Three panels joined into one shot are one clip. A dropped panel is no clip at all.

Your picture is the first frame, so the clip starts exactly on your artwork. The words in the storyboard say what happens next, including the action the comic never drew.

Try three shots first. Run it on a few shots, watch them, and only then run the rest. Most of the cost of a chapter is in this step.

Two things to know

A shot is one continuous take. It cannot cut to somewhere else. If a shot asks for a new place or a new time, you get a strange morph instead of a cut. Split it into two shots on the storyboard.

Give the action time. About 5 seconds for a held moment, about 10 when something has to travel across the shot.

Fix a shot

Open the clip, watch it, say what is wrong, and click Fix this shot. You get a new clip in the same place, so the cut stays in order and you can always go back one step. You can also trim the start and the end of a clip by hand.

Just make one clip

You do not need a plan or a script. Open Generate Video, give it a prompt, a picture, or both, and it makes you a clip. Good for a test or for one shot you need quickly.
